Arsenal Soccer Schools are blooming in Asia
Bangkok: November 17, 2009: Mr. Paul Shipwright, Director of Franchise Soccer School of Arsenal Football Club UK, who is on a coaching and observation trip around Arsenal Soccer Schools in the South East Asian region reveals that “It is fantastic to see how Arsenal Soccer Schools in Asia have developed and portray the “Play the Arsenal Way” methodology to the Asian children in the past few years. We started first Arsenal Soccer School operations outside of the UK in Egypt in 2002. We currently have altogether 6 Arsenal Soccer Schools in the Asian region including; Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the latest one in Guangzhou, China. There are 23 Arsenal Soccer School partners outside the UK located in every part of the world. Added to the one in the UK, there are 44 partners in total. Mr. Shipwright also added that “Arsenal Soccer Schools have been operating for over 20 years within the UK and internationally, with the last 12 months seeing new locations established on far-flung shores including Hawaii, Dubai and Bahrain. As with all the Clubs’ soccer schools, the courses have been based on the principles of developing young players’ skills, playing with imagination, pride and creativity as we called it “Play the Arsenal Way”. Gunners’ Soccer courses welcome around 40,000 children of all abilities and it doesn’t matter which team the children support-the primary focus is on providing a safe environment for participants to have fun whilst learning to play football the Arsenal way. All participants have an opportunity to play football in the Arsenal International Soccer Festival against Soccer Schools and other teams, from all over the world. All courses are operated by Soccer Schools partners with Arsenal coaches working alongside partners to ensure the high standards set are achieved and quality skills courses are delivered. In Thailand, We are partner with Praputt Kamlang-ek Football Centre Co., Ltd, who set up the Arsenal Soccer School here in Thailand last October. “It is excellent to see that Arsenal Soccer Schools in Asia develop rapidly during the past few years. We plan to establish more in Beijing, Oman and Hong Kong in 2010. I think the most important factor which makes football so popular in the regions, occurred from the popularity of the English Premier Leagues Football teams and the possibility to see more Asian football players playing in some of the famous Football Clubs in the UK.” concluded Mr. Shipwright. Mrs. Phornsan Kamland-ek, President of Praputt Kamlang-ek Football Centre Co., Ltd., also said that “We are proud to be part of the Global Football Education with Arsenal Football Club, which is one of the legendary Football Clubs in the UK. After one year of operations, now we have nearly 200 children under Coaching Programme and 40 players under Scholarship Programme. Thailand’s Childrens profile is comprised of various nationalities, who can learn football together in harmony. 40% is the native children, 30% are mixed race and 30% are Expats’ children whose parents work in Thailand. We have well-experienced Coaches and we are gradually gaining our recognition in Thailand. We plan to have an official launching of the improved facilities of the school early next year, when the construction of the roof finished. We believe that Arsenal Soccer Schools Thailand will be among the top Arsenal Soccer School in the region. We also have a Soccer scholarship programme for the under privileged children to be trained at the school. The objective is to encourage them play better football. Both Coaching Programme students and scholarship one, could have a chance to join Arsenal Soccer School in the UK and perhaps one day play as a professional player.
